    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the impact of different porcine pituitary extract (pFSH) batches on superovulation and embryo recovery in donor ewes.
    • To compare the effectiveness of two pFSH batches and varying administration protocols on estrus response, corpora lutea count, and viable embryo yield.

    • 102 donor ewes were synchronized using vaginal sponges containing fluorogestone acetate (FGA).

    • Embryo recovery rates relative to corpora lutea were 59% (pFSH1), 69% (pFSH2, 4 injections), and 80% (pFSH2, decreasing doses).

    Conclusions:

    • The batch of porcine pituitary extract (pFSH) significantly impacts superovulation efficiency and viable embryo production in sheep.
    • A specific pFSH batch (pFSH2) and a decreasing dose administration protocol resulted in superior reproductive outcomes.
    • Optimizing pFSH batch selection and administration is key for enhancing embryo recovery in sheep.
