Background:

Pulmonary tumor microembolism is a rare complication of cancer.
Early diagnosis is crucial for patient management.

Observation:

Three patients presented with findings suggestive of tumor microembolism on radionuclide lung perfusion imaging.
The imaging findings were considered typical for this condition.

Findings:

Autopsy confirmed pulmonary tumor microembolism in two of the three patients.
Radionuclide lung perfusion imaging demonstrated characteristic perfusion defects consistent with microvascular tumor obstruction.

Implications:

Radionuclide lung perfusion imaging can be a valuable tool in diagnosing pulmonary tumor microembolism.
