[Pseudovascular course of brain tumors]

Eighty-five cases of brain tumours verified by surgery or necropsy and occurring in elderly people are analyzed. In 23 cases, pseudovascular tumors ran the following courses: (1) a stroke-like manifestation of the previously latent tumour process; 2) a remitting course according to the type of transient impairments of cerebral circulation or "minor strokes"; 3) slowly progressive build-up of the subcortical amyostatic syndrome or cortical symptomatology according to the type of the atrophic vascular process. The significance of various clinical and laboratory studies conducted over time and also of definite features of the disease clinical picture for diagnosis specification is discussed.
