    Background:

    • Mouse mammary tumor virus (MMTV) is a retrovirus associated with mammary cancer in mice.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To develop and characterize a new mouse strain, BALB/cNIV/Crgl, infected with a specific MMTV strain.
    • To investigate the transmission and oncogenic properties of the nodule-inducing virus (NIV) in the BALB/cNIV/Crgl strain.

    • The BALB/cNIV/Crgl strain represents a valuable model for studying low-oncogenic MMTV.
    • The nodule-inducing virus exhibits distinct transmission and oncogenic characteristics compared to other MMTV strains.
    • This model can aid in understanding MMTV-induced mammary tumorigenesis and host-virus interactions.
