    Background:

    • Monocytes play a crucial role in the immune system, including the production of complement components like C2.
    • Cyclic nucleotides, cyclic AMP and cyclic GMP, are important intracellular messengers involved in various cellular processes.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the role of cyclic nucleotides in regulating complement component C2 production by monocytes.
    • To identify the specific signaling pathways involved in C2 synthesis modulation.

    Main Methods:

    • Monocytes were treated with various agents known to affect cyclic nucleotide levels (histamine, PGE2, cholera toxin, NaF, phosphodiesterase inhibitors, adrenergic and cholinergic ligands, prostaglandin synthetase inhibitors).

    • The observed changes in cyclic nucleotides and C2 production suggest complex signaling crosstalk in immune cells.
