    • Surgical Oncology
    • Gastroenterology

    Context:

    • Insulinoma, a rare pancreatic tumor, presents diagnostic and surgical challenges.
    • Long-term outcomes for insulinoma patients are crucial for treatment planning.

    Purpose:

    • To review the treatment outcomes for patients with insulinoma.
    • To evaluate the efficacy of surgical interventions for insulinoma.

    Summary:

    • Twenty-eight insulinoma patients underwent surgical treatment between 1935 and 1983.
    • Diagnostic methods included plasma insulin levels, arteriography, and transhepatic portal catheterization with insulin assay.
    • Surgical procedures ranged from enucleation to pancreatectomy, with a high success rate in tumor localization and benign pathology.

    Impact:

    • Surgical management of insulinoma demonstrates excellent outcomes with no operative mortality or recurrence.
    • This study highlights the effectiveness of surgical intervention in managing insulinoma.
