    Summary

    Direct immunofluorescence revealed IgM and C3 deposition in vessel walls in most cutaneous periarteritis nodosa cases. Findings suggest small vessel vasculitis may occur alongside deep vessel inflammation in this condition.

    Background:

    • Cutaneous periarteritis nodosa is a vasculitis affecting skin vessels.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate immunofluorescence findings in cutaneous periarteritis nodosa biopsies.
    • To determine the presence and location of immunoglobulin and complement deposition.

    • Direct immunofluorescence microscopy was performed on excision biopsy specimens from ten patients.
    • Immunofluorescence staining targeted immunoglobulin M (IgM) and complement component 3 (C3).
