[Traumatic epidermoid cysts on the hand (author's transl)]

The traumatic epithelial cyst as a result of minor injury can be detected first of all on hands. Malignant degeneration was not noted. The alteration appears often without infection, but coexistent infection and suppuration was also encountered. Failure to make correct diagnosis and a consecutive failed operative treatment are leading frequently to reoperations. The development of those little tumours take 2-3 months but sometime 2-3 weeks are sufficient. There is always an injury in the history but in the etiology disposition might be an important factor as well. Treatment should be surgical consisting of exact excision of the lesion.
