The influence of antiviral serum on cells infected with herpes simplex virus type 1
Acta Virologica
|January 1, 1982
Abstract:
Homologous immune serum (IS) had an inhibitory effect on the accumulation of specific viral antigens in VERO cells infected with herpes simplex virus type 1. When infected cells were incubated in the presence of IS, lower amounts of viral, both intracellular and membrane, antigens were found by quantitative immunofluorescence and immune cytolysis as compared to same infected cell incubated in the absence of IS. The possible mechanisms of this effect are discussed.
