Standardization of the sucrose-potassium phosphate-glyoxylic acid histofluorescence method for tissue monoamines

A modification of the sucrose-potassium phosphate-glyoxylic acid (SPG) histofluorescence method has resulted in consistent standardization of the fluorescent intensity while also eliminating a cumbersome step in the procedure. The present method results in highly rapid and sensitive visualization of monoaminergic neurons and their axonal varicosities in body tissue.
