    Background:

    • Endometriosis is a common gynecological condition.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the impact of high-dose danazol on serum enzyme levels in women with endometriosis.
    • To determine if danazol therapy causes significant changes in specific liver and muscle enzymes.

    Main Methods:

    • Seven women with endometriosis received danazol 800 mg daily for 4.7 to 9 months.
    • Serum enzyme levels (creatine phosphokinase, lactate dehydrogenase, SGOT, SGPT, alkaline phosphatase) were measured before, during, and after treatment.
    • Statistical analysis was used to compare enzyme levels.

    Main Results:

    • Six of seven women showed mild elevations in at least one serum enzyme.
    • Statistically significant increases were observed in creatine phosphokinase, lactate dehydrogenase, SGOT, and SGPT.

    • Daily high-dose danazol (800 mg) is associated with mild, reversible elevations in specific serum enzymes.
    • These enzyme elevations appear to resolve spontaneously after danazol discontinuation.
    • Monitoring of liver and muscle enzymes may be warranted during danazol therapy.
