    Summary

    Cryptorchidism, or undescended testes, shows early germinal epithelium damage. Hormonal therapy is ineffective, suggesting early surgical intervention before age two is optimal for treating undescended testes.

    Background:

    • Cryptorchidism is a common congenital condition in males.
    • Undescended testes can lead to infertility and increase cancer risk.
    • Previous studies suggest potential testicular damage associated with cryptorchidism.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the structural and ultrastructural modifications in cryptorchid testes.
    • To evaluate the efficacy of hormonal therapy in treating cryptorchidism.
    • To determine the optimal timing for surgical intervention in cryptorchidism.

    Main Methods:

    • Biopsies were performed on 15 patients aged 2-39 years with cryptorchidism.
    • Histological and ultrastructural analyses were conducted on testicular tissue.
