    Background:

    • Prototheca zopfi is an alga-like organism known to cause infections in various hosts.
    • Protothecosis is a rare disease, with documented cases primarily in humans and some animal species.

    • To report a case of disseminated protothecosis in a dog in Africa.
    • To describe the clinical and pathological findings associated with Prototheca zopfi infection in a canine.
