Sorption of bacteriophages by the cation-substituted forms of montmorillonite

The peculiarities of the absorption of phages T2 or MS2 on the Na-, Ca- or Al- forms of cherkassky montmorillonite have been studied. This depended on the size of the virus and the type of the exchanged cation of the mineral. The affinity of the phages to various forms of the montmorillonite has been defined and their maximum phage-sorptive activities determined.
