Summary

Plasma antigens contribute to red cell phenotypes, including glycolipids (ABH, Lewis) and glycoproteins (Chido, Rodgers). These acquired antigens, particularly type 1 ABH, can cause false positives in blood testing and lymphocytotoxic reactions.
