    Summary

    NZB mice exhibit both non-specific and antigen-specific suppressor cell activity. However, these suppressor cells do not affect the spontaneous development of autoimmune haemolytic anaemia in these mice.

    Background:

    • NZB mice are a model for studying autoimmune diseases, particularly autoimmune haemolytic anaemia.
    • Suppressor cells play a critical role in regulating immune responses and preventing autoimmunity.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the activity of non-specific and specific suppressor cells in young and old NZB mice.
    • To compare suppressor cell activity in NZB mice with normal CBA mice.
    • To determine the influence of antigen-specific suppressor cells on the development and course of autoimmune haemolytic anaemia in NZB mice.
