[Aneurysms of the fossae ovalis]

A series of 8 patients serve to demonstrate an ill-recognized entity, viz. the aneurysm of the oval fossa. The factors primarily responsible for the development of the aneurysm include a connective-tissue disturbance in the interatrial septum and an alteration of the pressure ratio between the atria. The possible clinical significance has been stressed.
