Abstract:
The results of surgical treatment of 53 patients with tumors of portal fissure are presented. A diagnostic procedure of retrograde cholangiography is developed. An effective surgical method of removing tumor en bloc with hepatic duct bifurcation, a segment of common hepatic artery, is suggested. To assure evacuation of bile, cholecystjejunostomy is performed. Hepatic artery is ligated. The method was used in the treatment of 8 patients (13%). Two patients survived 3 years after operation, one patients--5 years.

Portal Hypertension
Portal hypertension is an increase in blood pressure within the portal venous system. Normally, this pressure is less than 5 mmHg. It is considered clinically significant when it rises above 10 mmHg. At this threshold, complications from altered blood flow and venous congestion emerge.EtiologyPortal hypertension arises from conditions that impede blood flow through the liver. The most common cause is cirrhosis, in which chronic liver injury leads to fibrotic scarring. This fibrosis narrows or...
