Cellular sensitivity to collagen in bleomycin-treated rats.

    Summary

    Rats treated with bleomycin developed an immune response to lung collagen, specifically type I collagen. This cellular sensitivity to collagen may contribute to the development of pulmonary fibrosis.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate cellular sensitivity to homologous interstitial collagens following bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis in rats.
    • To determine the specificity and nature of the immune response to collagen in this model.
