Pharyngolaryngectomy for post cricoid carcinoma
Abstract:
Radical resection after unsuccessful radiotherapy for post cricoid carcinoma may provide longterm cures even in patients who have cervical node involvement. The best palliation is achieved by visceral replacement of the pharynx but this carries a significant mortality rate. In patients with tumors considered too extensive for radiotherapy, successful short term palliation can be achieved with pharyngolaryngectomy and left colon replacement.
