    Summary

    Pure testicular seminoma with elevated beta-human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is rare. This study presents eight cases, finding normal alpha-fetoprotein and no correlation between beta-HCG levels and tumor stage.

    Background:

    • Pure testicular seminoma is a malignant germ cell tumor.
    • Elevated serum beta-human chorionic gonadotropin (beta-HCG) is uncommon in pure seminomas.
    • Understanding the clinical behavior of these rare cases is important for treatment.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To present the clinical findings, diagnosis, and disease course of eight patients with pure testicular seminoma and positive serum beta-HCG.
    • To investigate the correlation between serum beta-HCG levels and tumor stage.
    • To evaluate the utility of immunohistochemistry in diagnosing these cases.

    Main Methods:

    • Retrospective review of eight patients with pure testicular seminoma and elevated serum beta-HCG.
    • Routine clinical investigations.
    • Immunohistochemical examination of formalin-fixed specimens using the immunoperoxidase technique.
    • Monitoring of serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) levels.

    • All eight patients had pure testicular seminoma with positive serum beta-HCG.

    • Radiotherapy is a primary treatment modality, with chemotherapy and surgery reserved for specific cases.
