[Allergic asthma from enzymes in drugs]
Abstract:
Two patients, both non-atopic, developed asthma after exposure to drugs containing enzymes. RAST identified trypsin as the causative allergen in both cases, with, additionally, amylase and pepsin in the second patient. All enzymes so far recognized as respiratory allergens, and those widely used in drugs, are presented in tabular form.
