    Summary

    Tumor-induced suppressor factors in mouse serum inhibit immune responses to myelin basic protein (MBP). These factors comprise two distinct chains, one binding MBP and the other carrying an I-J determinant, separable by detergent treatment.

    Background:

    • Serum from mice with methylcholanthrene-induced tumors contains suppressor factors.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the interaction of these factors with myelin basic protein (MBP) and immune cells.

    • Chromatography on Sephacryl S-200 to isolate low molecular weight fractions.
    • Absorption studies using MBP and lysozyme coupled to Sepharose.
    • Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) cleavage and subsequent absorption with MBP or anti-I-J antibody.
