    Summary:

    • Simultaneous autoradiography and cytochemistry for acid alpha-naphthylacetate esterase identified T cells in the tonsil.
    • DNA synthesis was observed in only a small fraction of T cells.
    • The labeling index for T cells was substantially lower than that observed for B cells, indicating limited proliferation.
