    Background:

    • Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE) is a severe, progressive neurological complication of measles virus infection.
    • The exact pathogenesis of SSPE, particularly the role of immune responses within the central nervous system (CNS), remains incompletely understood.

    Observation:

    • Electron microscopy revealed vascular osmiophilic deposits with entangled tubular profiles in the cerebral tissue of an SSPE patient.
    • These deposits were localized within the blood vessels of the brain.

    Findings:

    • Measles viral antigen, immunoglobulin G (IgG), immunoglobulin M (IgM), and complement component 3 (C3) were detected within the vascular deposits.
    • The distribution of these immune markers colocalized with the osmiophilic deposits, strongly suggesting their composition.
