Abstract:
The response of the target cells of the skin (sebaceous glands, hair follicles) to androgens is bound to the influence of different hormones. Pituitary hormones permit the action of testosterone on the sebaceous glands by influencing its conversion to 5 alpha-dihydrotestosterone. The sebaceous glands of the rat have proved a useful experimental model.
