    Summary

    A rhesus monkey developed seborrheic dermatitis, a skin condition causing red, scaly lesions on its face and extremities. Lesion severity increased with experimental use.

    Background:

    Observation:

    • Lesions were characterized by erythema, exfoliation, and exudation.

    • Histopathology revealed acanthosis, parakeratosis, spongiotic edema, vascular ectasia, and lymphohistiocytic infiltrates.
    • Lesion exacerbation correlated with increased experimental utilization.

    • This case highlights seborrheic dermatitis as a differential diagnosis in rhesus monkeys with similar skin lesions.
    • Further research may explore the link between stress/experimental use and dermatitis in primates.
