Cyclosporin A and the immune response to transplantation antigens
Abstract:
Cyclosporin A (CsA) is a promising new immunosuppressive agent with considerable clinical potential. In addition to its ability to prolong allografts and possibly induce transplantation tolerance, this agent appears capable of selectively affecting different T lymphocyte subpopulations. Thus, Cyclosporin A may not only be a useful drug in clinical transplantation, but it may also become an important immunologic probe allowing the dissection of complex cellular interactions involved in the immune response.
