This study reports the first case of epidermolytic palmo-plantar keratoderma associated with granuloma annulare in an 11-year-old girl. This rare skin condition highlights potential links between palmoplantar keratoderma and granuloma annulare.

    Area of Science:

    • Dermatology
    • Genetics

    Background:

    • Epidermolytic palmo-plantar keratoderma is a rare condition causing thickened skin on palms and soles.
    • Granuloma annulare is an inflammatory skin condition often presenting as raised bumps.

    Observation:

    • An 11-year-old girl with congenital keratoderma developed granuloma annulare.
    • No family history of keratoderma was reported in this case.

    Findings:

    • This is the first reported instance of epidermolytic palmo-plantar keratoderma co-occurring with granuloma annulare.
    • Literature review identified three similar cases without a family history.

    Implications:

    • Suggests epidermolytic palmo-plantar keratoderma may be a distinct entity, not a form of ichthyosis.
