The origin and the pathological significance of the corpus amylaceum

After the investigation of the CA in different diseases of the central nervous system it may be concluded that the causative factor can be effective in different situations. The chronic, mainly arteriopathic disorders associate with great amount of the CA predominantly, but they have no diagnostic significance. In the first phase the astrocytic changes show progressive character, later it turns to be a regressive one and the developing material enriches in some constituents from the blood plasma, cerebrospinal fluid or from the detriments of the damaged parenchyma. The CA may be situated outside of the cells.
