    Background:

    • Median nerve dysfunction affects motor responses.
    • Quantifying these responses is crucial for diagnosis.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the M index as a reliable measure of median nerve M response integration.
    • To assess the correlation between the M index and distal neuropathic processes.

    Main Methods:

    • Surface bipolar stimulation of the median nerve.
    • Recording and electronically integrating M responses from the thenar eminence.
    • Comparing the M index (amplitude x duration) with integrated M response.
