Herpes simplex viruses (HSV-1 and HSV-2) are now shown to be complete helpers for adenovirus-associated virus (AAV) replication, yielding infectious particles similar to adenovirus coinfections. This finding reveals a new role for herpesviruses in AAV multiplication.
