    Summary

    Timolol therapy significantly lowered intraocular pressure in open-angle glaucoma patients over 14 weeks. The study suggests timolol reduces eye pressure by decreasing aqueous humor production.

    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the long-term effect of timolol on intraocular pressure and aqueous humor dynamics in open-angle glaucoma.
    • To investigate the mechanism by which timolol reduces intraocular pressure.

    • A 14-week prospective study involving 38 eyes of patients with open-angle glaucoma.
