[Glomus tumor, mistaken for an inflammation for 4 years]

The difficulties encountered in diagnosing a glomus tumor are demonstrated by means of the case of a 34 year old female patient. The available literature specifies that the course of the disease may extend over a time of up to 40 years. Troubles over a period of time of only a few months are rather exceptional. In the present case, taking a sample excision from a distinctly clubbed finger helped to clarify the diagnosis. In view of the long course of the symptoms as well as the gross clinical and suspect radiological findins, and eventually malignant disease could not be excluded from the differential diagnosis.
