Hepatocellular carcinoma involving the portal vein

A case of hepatocellular carcinoma with invasion of the portal vein is reported. A tumor defect within the dilated portal vein is well demonstrated by computed tomography, and its appearance is compatible with the "thread and streaks" sign seen on hepatic angiography.
