    Background:

    • Cervical neoplasia is a significant public health concern.
    • The role of infectious agents, such as Chlamydia trachomatis and herpes simplex virus (HSV), in the development of cervical neoplasia is under investigation.
    • Sexual activity is a known risk factor for both cervical neoplasia and infections with Chlamydia trachomatis and HSV.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the association between antibodies to Chlamydia trachomatis and herpes simplex virus (HSV) and the risk of cervical neoplasia.
    • To determine if specific infections are more prevalent in women diagnosed with cervical neoplasia.

    Main Methods:

    • Serological testing for antibodies against Chlamydia trachomatis and HSV type 2 was performed on 383 women with cervical neoplasia and 500 control women without the condition.
