    Background:

    • Lymphoma diagnosis and staging are critical for effective treatment planning.
    • Conventional diagnostic techniques have limitations in visualizing certain lymphomatous involvements.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of computed tomography (CT) of the chest and abdomen in patients with lymphoma.
    • To compare CT findings with conventional diagnostic methods.

    Main Methods:

    • Computed tomography (CT) scans of the chest and abdomen were performed on 40 patients diagnosed with lymphoma.
    • CT results were compared against findings from conventional diagnostic techniques, including lymphography.

    Main Results:

    • CT scans correctly identified the presence or absence of lymphoma in 34 out of 40 patients (85% accuracy).
    • A high degree of agreement was observed between CT and lymphography findings in 26 out of 27 cases.
    • CT demonstrated particular utility in assessing lymphomatous involvement of mesenteric lymph nodes, high retroperitoneal lymph nodes, and extranodal abdominal sites (pancreas, kidney).

    Conclusions:

    • Abdominal CT is a valuable noninvasive diagnostic tool for the initial staging of lymphoma.
    • CT facilitates the subsequent evaluation of selected lymphoma patients, especially for extranodal disease.
