[Engagement anomalies of the patella]

Among the patellar instabilities, the authors have singled out the anomaly of engagement. Occurring accidentally in the first 30 degrees of knee flexion, it causes a dynamic derangement. The sole logical treatment appears to be wide resection of the lateral retinaculum and a heightening and shortening suture of the medial retinaculum.
