[Nonfunctional benign Langerhans tumor of the cystic type]

This article describes a case of "non-functional" beta cell tumor of the pancreas. A review of the literature confirms the exceptional nature of these tumors. They produce the same symptoms as cancers of the exocrine tissues, although they are often diagnosed radiologically before the appearance of any clinical symptoms. Surgical treatment is necessary to extirpate the tumor, and permit histological examination.
