    Summary

    Enzyme injections using collagenase (Nucleolysin) successfully treated 78% of patients with herniated discs unresponsive to traditional therapies. This minimally invasive approach showed no adverse effects and sustained results over two years.

    Background:

    • Herniated discs often present treatment challenges for patients refractory to conservative management.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the efficacy and safety of percutaneous collagenase (Nucleolysin) enzyme injections for treating herniated discs.
    • To determine the optimal dosage and assess long-term outcomes in patients with refractory disc herniation.

    Main Methods:

    • A series of 52 patients with herniated discs, unresponsive to conservative treatment, were enrolled.
    • Patients received percutaneous intra-discal injections of collagenase (Nucleolysin) under an experimental protocol.
