Abstract:
This paper describes a system of morbidity surveillance implemented in Belgium in 1978, which routinely collects data provided by a sample of general practitioners. Advantages and drawbacks of this system are discussed. Some results are presented, regarding the incidence and prevalence of selected health problems, as for example urinary tract infections and abortion requests.
