[Significance of transplantation in children using organs from related donors]
Klinische Padiatrie
|July 1, 1983
Abstract:
During a 5 year period (1976-1981) 73 kidney transplantations in children were performed in the Medical School Hannover. 23 were from live related donors (LD) and 50 from cadaver donors (CAD). In the LD group the waiting time was shorter and the kidney function better. Patient living time was in the LD group 100% against 80% in the CAD group. The transplant living time was only 7% better in the LD group. The more favorable results from live related donors justifies in our opinion the parent-child donation.
