    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the effectiveness of cervical spine manipulation for neck and shoulder pain.
    • To assess symptomatic and goniometric outcomes following manipulation.

    Main Methods:

    • A randomized controlled trial involving 52 patients in a general practice setting.
    • Symptomatic and goniometric assessments were conducted over a three-week period.

    Main Results:

    • Significant immediate improvement in neck pain, stiffness, and shoulder pain/paresthesia.
    • Nearly significant improvement for arm/hand pain/paresthesia.
    • Sustained significant increase in cervical rotation for three weeks; immediate improvement in lateral flexion not maintained.

    Conclusions:

    • Cervical spine manipulation demonstrates significant short-term benefits for specific neck and shoulder conditions.
