    Summary

    Certain pathological features in membranous glomerulopathy can indicate lupus, even without overt clinical symptoms. Identifying multiple features increases suspicion for lupus nephritis.

    Background:

    • Membranous glomerulopathy (MG) is a kidney disease characterized by immune complex deposition in the glomerular basement membrane.
    • Distinguishing between lupus nephritis (LN) and non-lupus MG is crucial for appropriate treatment and prognosis.
    • Electron microscopy and immunofluorescence are key diagnostic tools for evaluating MG.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate clinical and pathological features for differentiating lupus MG from non-lupus MG.
    • To determine the diagnostic accuracy (sensitivity, specificity, predictive values) of various parameters.
    • To assess the utility of these features in diagnosing lupus even in the absence of overt clinical lupus erythematosus.

    • The presence of multiple abnormal features warrants a high suspicion for lupus, even in patients without clinically overt systemic lupus erythematosus.
    • Accurate differentiation aids in timely diagnosis and management of lupus nephritis.
