    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the prevalence of lipid abnormalities, specifically hypertriglyceridemia and hypercholesterolemia, in chronic alcoholic subjects.
    • To compare the incidence of these lipid abnormalities in alcoholic patients versus age-matched non-alcoholic controls.

    • Seventy-seven male chronic alcoholic subjects from detoxification centers were assessed for serum lipid levels.
