    Summary

    Pituitary adenomas were examined for gamma-trace, a protein found in body fluids. Gamma-trace was detected in tumor cells, with some adenomas also showing luteinizing hormone (LH) and other pituitary hormones.

    Background:

    • Gamma-trace is a small protein found in various body fluids and cells.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the presence and characteristics of gamma-trace in pituitary adenomas.

    • No significant structural similarity was found between gamma-trace and known hormonal peptides.

    Conclusions:

    • Gamma-trace is present in pituitary adenoma cells.
    • Its presence may be associated with certain pituitary hormone-producing adenomas, particularly those with LH.
    • Gamma-trace's distinct structure suggests it is not directly related to the characterized pituitary hormones.
