    Summary

    High-frequency jet ventilation (HFJV) in ICU patients reduced peak airway pressure and pulmonary barotrauma risk compared to conventional ventilation (CV). Cardiac index remained similar, though HFJV slightly decreased oxygenation.

    Background:

    • Mechanical ventilation is crucial for critically ill patients.
    • Conventional ventilation (CV) can cause lung injury.
    • High-frequency jet ventilation (HFJV) is an alternative with potentially lower airway pressures.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To compare airway pressures and cardiorespiratory variables between CV and HFJV.
    • To assess the safety and efficacy of HFJV in ICU patients.
    • To provide recommendations for initiating HFJV.
