[Injury of the rat hematopoietic stem pool during prolonged external irradiation]

Abstract:
The haemopoietic stem pool in rats exposed to long-term repeated irradiation with a cumulative dose of 10 Gy was irreversibly reduced. Proliferating, maturing and functional pools were restored completely. Possible mechanisms of the impairment of the CFUs population recovery are discussed.
