An improved medium for the isolation of Cryptococcus neoformans from pigeon droppings

Isolation of Cryptococcus neoformans is enhanced when methyl violet at 2 mg l-1 is added to the usual Guizotia abyssinica medium. In preliminary tests the medium has also proved useful for isolating C. neoformans from other sources.
