Beyond classification of behavior types
Abstract:
House, Sharry, Blum, and Koper classified patients according to behavior types and supplied a behavioral insight into the success and failure of prostheses. Fear/anxiety and need are integral parts of behavior. These entities affect individual patients, depending on the strength of the ego states through which they express their personalities and interact with the dentist. If the dentist and his/her staff become behaviorally astute, a great amount of behavior modification can be achieved and the learning process implemented. This will ensure a higher degree of success in the treatment of prosthodontic patients.
